Women play mas

SOME FAMILIAR female faces graced the stage at the National Stadium for Republic Bank Grand Kadooment Day.
The professional women took a break from the day-to-day grind and used the day – set aside to culminate the Crop Over season – to have a good time.
The Kadooment Day parade saw more than 11 000 masqueraders while countless others joined in the fun as they made their way down to Spring Garden behind the Revellers Band.
At the end of the day a woman came out on top. Gwyneth Squires won Large Band Of The Year, Most Colourful Large Band, the Roberts Weekes Award – Best Festival Award and tied with Betty West for first place in the Topical category.
She also placed third in the George Dear Award – Best Band On The Road. (TTY)
